Mr. Ochaya James Philip is a South Sudanese national born in Agoro, Magwi County Eastern Equatoria State. He started his Journalistic work at Mega FM 102 as a presenter in 2012 in Gulu Uganda and he was also a co-founder and managing editor of 99.3 Sama FM in Juba-South Sudan from 2014 to 2016. He also founded a National Organization called Community Development Initiative (CDI) in 2016 Juba South Sudan.

Mr. James served as a protection advisor at the national sub-GBV-cluster in Juba, and the initiative is headed by UNFPA. He is working as a safety and protection officer for the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS) from 2018- 2021.

Mr. James participated in several baseline surveys initiated by the WFP and FAO from 2015 to 2016. He obtained a professional Diploma in Journalism and media management from Gulu University in Uganda.

He holds a diploma in project planning and management from Gulu Institute of Management as well as an advanced certificate in Medicine and Public Health in Lira Health Institute.

Besides Uganda where he studied mostly, he has toured Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, and United Kingdom. Mr. James served as media cluster coordinator for South Sudan Human Right Defender Network, SSHRDN, and a member of the steering committee from 2018 to 2021.  He is a full member of the Uganda union of Journalists, a full member of Journalist Right Network Uganda.

He speaks very good English and Arabic fairly.
